First Gathering Planned for Dominican Young Adults USA

Dominican Add Their Voice to Call for Closure of School of the Americas

Ft. Benning, GA November 27, 2006-- Dominicans from many different congregations joined over 22, 000 others in calling for an end to the US support for the combat-training school for Latin American soldiers.

800th Anniversary Opportunity

Tour Planned to Trace the Steps of St. Vincent Ferrer

RIVER FOREST, IL. Fr. Al Judy, OP of the Central Province will lead a special 800th anniversary tour of northern Spain and southern France to mark the life of St. Vincent Ferrer. The trip will include a visit to Valencia for the celebration of their annual Fiesta San Vicente de Ferrer. Barcelona, Spain, and in France: Perpignan, Avignon, Carcassonne and Toulouse. READ MORE

Columbus Dominican Wins Mother Theresa Award

Sister Thoma Swanson of St. Mary of the Springs has taught high-school and college students in America for decades and has helped Peruvian artisans escape poverty. But it was her artwork, including stained-glass windows, that earned one of this year’s Mother Teresa Awards, presented by the St. Bernadette Institute of Sacred Art in Albuquerque, N.M.

The Prestige Offers Gloomy London Rivalry

Film critic, Tom Condon, OP, offers his thoughts on the latest magician's mystery: The Prestige. The film centers on the rivalry between two magicians in 1890’s London: Robert Angier, (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale). Angier blames Borden for the death of his wife in a magic trick, when the two were working together. They go their separate ways, becoming bitter rivals. PROUILHE, FRANCE - November 27, 2006 - Many Domincans around the world are helping to fund the renovation of the basilica of the Monastery of Our Lady of Prouilhe, France.To date, In the USA, the collections has grown to $6,039.26 which is €4710.15. Madeline Tacy, OP (Hope) who has been leading the Pennies for Prouilhe project, would like to be able to send €5,000 which is $6410.70 meaning the collection is $371.44 short. READ MORE
