Dominican Young Adults USA

AMITYVILLE, NY – November 27, 2006 --Gina Fleming, OP, Youth Promoter for the Amityville Dominicans announced recently the first gathering of Dominican Young Adults USA. The meeting will take place July 19-22, 2007 at Ohio Dominican University, Columbus, OH.

Dominican Young Adults (ages 18-25) who have experienced the National High School Preaching Conference, the National College Preaching Conference or young adults who have been Dominican Volunteers are cordially invited. Gina said, “Other young adults who may not have had these experiences but have attended Dominican institutions, been a member of a parish staffed by Dominicans, have been personally touched by a member of the Order, or who feel drawn to the Dominican charism of Preaching are also most welcome to join us.”

The purpose of the gathering is two fold: first, it will be an opportunity for young adults who have attended the National Conferences to reconnect with fellow conference participants and mentors from the Dominican Order; second, it will be an opportunity to begin a conversation about a Dominican Youth Movement here in the United States (Dominican Young Adults USA).

Gina added, “We strongly encourage members of the Order who have been to these conferences or work with young adults to join us in this new and exciting adventure.”
