Dominican Sisters of Elkins Park Gather
for Motherhouse Closing Ritual
PHILADELPHIA,
PA ---August 13, 2007 The
Dominican Sisters of Elkins Park gathered at their motherhouse property
August 1-3 for the last time as a congregation. Using a theme from
T. S. Eliot’s poetry: The ending is where we begin, the
community expressed its hope for the future while engaged in leave taking
rituals and conversations about the next steps in their journey. READ

Houston Dominicans join three other congregations
in launching new informational website
"Our
habits have changed, but not our mission" is the slogan of the new website
launched by four Texas congregations including the Dominican Sisters of
Houston.
Houston Dominican Linda Gibler appears on the splash page along with a
fully-habited young Sr. JoAnn of 50 years ago. Linda tells her story of

Dominican Institute for the Arts Celebrates Preaching Mission
RACINE,
WI – August 13, 2007-- Honoring the 800th anniversary
of the Dominican Order, more than 60 Dominican artists from around the
United States and Great Britain gathered here for the Dominican Institute
for the Arts (DIA) last week. From August 6-9, the artists held their
annual conference at Siena Center in Racine, observing this significant
anniversary and the feast day of St. Dominic on August 8 with special

Sinsinawa Dominican Receives Fra Angelico
Award
RACINE,
WI – August 13, 2007--- During the annual meeting of the Dominican
Institute for the Arts, Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Joeann Daley, OP
was named the recipient of the 2007 Fra Angelico Award. DIA board president Lucianne Siers,
OP (Grand Rapids) said, “Joeann’s
work is playful and narrative and is often filled with familiar images
of saints, mythological figures as well as iconic sculptural elements.” Joeann
has worked in etchings, monoprints, lithographs, pasted prints, mixed

Mission San Jose Dominicans Sign On to Federation
Statement on Nuclear Disarmament -- Affirm Earth Charter
MISSION
SAN JOSE, CA - August 13, 2007--At their July United States Chapter meetings,
the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose took a corporate stance against
nuclear weapons proliferation in harmony with the Federation of Dominican
Sisters, USA, and many other religious communities. Taking the stance
came after personal and communal study on the whole nuclear weapons
issue. The Sisters also affirmed the Earth Charter. READ
