School Action Plans 2015

We the preachers of Albertus Magnus High School, Bardonia, NY, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  • continue to deepen student/faculty understanding of our Dominican charism and the 4 pillars;
  • share our experience with our new administration;
  • plan a Dominican Day.

We the preachers of Aquinas High School, Bronx, NY, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. Begin a Preaching Club;
  2. Study our Dominican Heritage;
  3. Increase visits to our sponsoring community,Sisters of Sparkhill;
  4. Foster more service activities within.


We the preachers of Dominican Academy, New York, NY, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

by raising awareness about the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena in Iraq and other Dominican Orders worldwide. We also commit to preach the Gospel through the creativity of ourselves and our classmates.

We the preachers of Dominican High School, Whitefish Bay, WI, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. Rededicate our school’s emphasis on service through exploring grade-level service opportunities;
  2. Use what we have learned to increase quality of our liturgies and level of student participation.

We the preachers of Edgewood High School, Madison, WI, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  • During a monthly Dominican Day and throughout the year in liturgies and prayer services, promote the Four Dominican Pillars and their value in the modern world;
  • On Dominican Study Day during Catholic Schools Week and throughout the week, host local Dominican sisters who minister to immigrants as well as Dominican sisters from Vietnam to educate our students about local and international justice issues.

We the preachers of Fenwick High School, Oak Park, IL, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. We will bring more knowledge about the Dominican Order and act as advocates through the Order by utilizing Fenwick’s Broadcasting Club;
  2. We will assist the administration in planning and celebrating the 800th anniversary of the founding of the order, beginning with an all school mass on November 10;
  3. We will educate the student body on contemporary issues and encourage them to take action.

 

We the preachers of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, La Cañada, CA, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. We will educate our school community by holding an assembly based on the Dominican charism and\
  2. We will plan and provide service opportunities based on the social justice teachings we learned this week.

We the preachers of Immaculate Conception Academy, San Francisco, CA, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  • By creating a more interactive environment through engaging lectors, more relatable presentations and insightful stories;
  • By doing these things we hope to bring this conference’s sense of community back to our school and create a more enthusiastic atmosphere.

We the preachers of Marian Catholic High School, Chicago Heights, IL, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  • We will encourage all members of the Marian Catholic family to recognize and celebrate the charism and mission of the Dominican Order;\
  • We will guide our school community to study the signs of the times using this year’s theme, “One who knows more, loves more.”
  • Leading by example, we hope to inspire our classmates to engage in more meaningful acts of service;
  • Having embraced our vocation to love as prophets of joy, we will preach from the heart of God.

We the preachers of Mount Saint Dominic Academy, Caldwell, NJ, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  • Varying our methods for proclaiming the Word and diversifying our music ministry for school prayer services and liturgies:
  • Providing our student body with varied prayer opportunities such as Adoration and Benediction, Rosary, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation;
  • Supporting our Dominican Family in Iraq, by raising awareness and encouraging monthly prayer in our school community.

We the preachers of Our Lady of the Elms, Akron, OH, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. To get the school community more involved in prayer and service;
  2. Encourage the students to “preach” the signs of the times in our world.

We the preachers of Queen of Peace High School, Burbank, IL, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. We will create a campus ministry team, to bring a more faith-filled environment to our school;
  2. We will try to have an all-school assembly about the situation of Christians in Iraq and the surrounding countries.

We the preachers of Regina Dominican High School, Wilmette, IL, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  • We will work to infuse the Dominican charism and pillars into the Regina Dominican community by creating activities and lessons one week every month during the morning advisory program;
  • We will use our skills and gifts to formally preach the gospel during school liturgies and other community events.

We the preachers of Rosary High School, Aurora, IL, commit to preach the Gospel by:

  • Integrating the Dominican tradition into our routine prayer opportunities.
  • We commit to preach the Gospel by continuing to educate ourselves on the signs of the times and using our preaching at all-school masses to spark conversation around social justice.

We the preachers of Sacred Heart High School, Los Angeles, CA, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. Bringing an emphasis of the Dominican pillars and saints for each class;
  2. Planning an advocacy project for each class;
  3. Planning prayer through art workshops for each class;
  4. Celebrating the Dominican Jubilee by liturgy and teaching the new song to our school.


We the preachers of Sacred Heart Griffin High School, Springfield, IL, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

By developing a greater awareness of the Dominican identity with an emphasis on the four pillars. We also commit to raising awareness and supporting the 2015 Dominican High Schools Preaching Conference Statement pertaining to our family in Iraq, to further educate the Sacred Heart Griffin community.

We the preachers of San Gabriel Mission High School, San Gabriel, CA, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

by encouraging and promoting student involvement in prayer and liturgy, social justice education, and the general education of the Dominican faith.

We the preachers of St. Agnes Academic High School, College Point, NY, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. We will create a presentation on the Four Pillars to present to the faculty and the student council.
  2. We plan to make a presentation to the St. Agnes community to raise awareness of the situation in Iraq.

We the preachers of St. Agnes Academy, Houston, TX, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. Have a week dedicated to the Dominican 800th Jubilee with days devoted to the history and each pillar of Dominicans, including a campus-wide day of service
  2. Have a t-shirt sale where students buy 2 shirts, one of which they keep and the other is sent to refugees overseas, in addition to any other t-shirt girls wish to donate.

We the preachers of St. Catherine High School, Racine, WI, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. Embark on a conversation with the Dominican Schools of the Central Province in order to serve our respective communities and continue to strengthen the relationships with our Dominican Family.
  2. And promote the High School Preaching Conference with the students of our school as a means of deepening the understanding of the Dominican charism.

We the preachers of St. John the Baptist High School, West Islip, NY, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. We pledge to raise awareness about the Dominicans in Iraq through our media center, wristbands and written pamphlet.
  2. We also pledge to form stronger connections with our local motherhouse, Amityville, through creating prayer partners with the retired sisters who reside there.

We the preachers of Cristo Rey St. Martin, Waukegan, IL, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  • Get involved as a group in a monthly service opportunity offered by the school;
  • Give a presentation during our lunch/advisory period at school that connects four pillars and a current event topic;
  • Make a sign about Dominican four pillars and put it up in school;
  • Make powerpoint reflections for current events that happen during the year. Project powerpoints on the cafeteria wall during the school day.

We the preachers of St. Mary’s Dominican High School, New Orleans, LA, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. We commit to organize at least one service project for the student body which will incorporate prayer, catechesis, and cultural immersion;
  2. We commit to increase mass participation by making Dominican values and scripture more relatable to the student body.

 

We the preachers of the Holy Preaching at St. Pius X High School, Houston, TX, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

  1. Through the pillar of prayer, we will enter into a prayer partnership with our own retired Dominican sisters and plan visits and activities together.
  2. Through the pillar of study, we will conduct a school wide awareness program on the social issues of migration and immigration which will included guest speakers, student forums, and special veritas moments.
  3. Through the pillar of community, we will observe the 800th Jubilee of the Order. We will attend the national Jubilee mass in Columbus, OH, compose and recite daily a special jubilee prayer, and include the jubilee logo on campus and on our website.
  4. Through the pillar of preaching, we will continue to promote awareness and advocacy of our Dominican Family in Iraq. We will include our new solidarity statement on our web page and on our campus.


We the preachers of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Hammond, LA, commit to preach the Gospel in the following ways:

By exhibiting the Dominican charism through our words and actions. Through the pillars of prayer, study, community, and preaching, we will bring forth the word of God to our school community.

We vow to enable the Light of Christ to shine in the hearts of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School family.
