US Dominican Named Vatican Secretary of Worship

Augustine DiNoiaVATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Pope Benedict XVI has named Dominican Father J. Augustine DiNoia (St. Joseph) an archbishop and secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments. "I am happy the pope has entrusted to me an area that he considers so important," the archbishop-designate told Catholic News Service June 16, shortly after the Vatican announced his new assignment.

Two Hope Dominicans Recognized for Their Work

OSSINING, NY -- Two Dominican Sisters of Hope were recently honored in separate events for their work. What do they hold in common? They both advocate for the poor and the working people of the world. Deborah Blow, OP, was honored at Providence College for her efforts with the people of Nicaragua.

In Cincinnati, OH, Dominican Sister of Hope, Monica McGloin, OP, received the Fr. Joe Peschel, SJ Worker Justice Award on April 21, 2009. Sister Monica was chosen because of her involvement with worker justice issues including the right to organize, just wages and benefits for janitors and other low paid workers. READ MORE
