Pilgrimage
Marywood offers tour of sacred places in England, Scotland

The Dominican Center at Marywood, a ministry of Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids in Michigan, is sponsoring a tour of England and Scotland, with a focus on the history of Celtic spirituality and mysticism. Highlights of this pilgrimage include:

  • Learning about London’s 14th and 15th century dawning of mysticism with Walter Hilton and Richard Rolle;
  • Discovering the life of the great spiritual leader Julian of Norwich;
  • Visiting the shrine of beloved St. Cuthbert in Durham;
  • Traveling to Lindisfarne in Edinburgh to see St. Aidan’s monastery built in 635 AD:
  • Riding the ferry from Oban to the Isle of Mull and on to Isle of Iona, where St. Columba established Scotland’s first Christian monastic settlement in 563 AD.

The beautiful and serene Isle of Iona is also where you will spend two days in retreat before heading to tour Glasgow, which was founded by St. Mungo in 550 AD.

This 11-day trip, hosted by Sisters Nancy Brousseau, OP and Diane Zerfas, OP, will leave Chicago on Thursday, Oct. 21 and return to Chicago on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012.

The double-occupancy price of $3,098 includes round-trip airfare from Chicago; accommodations and most meals; comprehensive sightseeing with a professional driver/guide; and all hotel service charges, local taxes, porterage, and entrance fees. A $400 down payment by check is required to complete the reservation.

Register online or call the Dominican Center at Marywood front desk at 616-454-1241, option 5.
