Amityville Dominicans Ready
to Begin 21st General Chapter

AMITYVILLE, NY July 26, 2006--The Dominican Sisters of Amityville, NY will convene their 21st General Chapter entitled - Empowered for Mission 1206-2006 and Beyond… on August 3 and end August 8 with a liturgy and celebration for the feast of St. Dominic. The Chapter of Elections will take place March 10-11, 2007.

Prioress Ginny Maguire, OP said, "Recognizing that we are at a new moment in history, we have made a conscious decision to fashion our Chapter in a contemplative mode, focusing on Religious Life: What Are We Called to Today?"

"We ask that you pray with us during this contemplative dialogue for the honesty and openness needed to respond to where God’s grace beckons us at this time in our history. By being attentive to life’s issues in an ordinary way, the desired Chapter outcome will hopefully model for us an extraordinary way of being for the holy preaching."
