Nuns’ Build Project Dominicans Add Their Labor to Rebirthing Efforts in New Orleans
ST. BERNARD PARISH, LA -- "There's a need here, and sisters are responsive -- that's what we do," Sister Mary Keefe, OP (Adrian) said of the effort of 36 Dominicans from ten congregations who participated in Nuns’ Build, an effort to rebuild homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
About 80 sisters from across the United States worked from October 5th to 9th hanging wallboard, installing insulation and other tasks in St. Bernard civil parish. READ MORE
Founder of the Dominican Sisters of the Annunciation
The Canonization of St. Francis Coll y Guitart OP
ROME, Italy-- St. Francisco Coll Guitart, a Spanish Dominican priest who founded the Dominican Sisters of the Annunciation in the 19th century. was canonized October 11th. He was famed for his evangelical preaching, aimed especially at Catholics who had lapsed from the practice of the faith. He made great use of the rosary, initiating the "perpetual rosary" in parts of Spain. His popular missions continued until his death in 1875 at 62.

Parable's Mendicantour Lecturer Dies Unexpectedly
Eli Pascual Espinoux, OP, 50, a frequent lecturer to pilgrims who made the Lands of Dominic tours with the Parable Conference passed away after an unexpected illness in France, September 13, 2009. He also lectured on Dominican history for the Fanjeaux retreats and study projects from the US. . He lived in Toulouse at the provincial house. His obituary appears on the provinces website(fr) .
