A Unique Community of Dominican Sisters
Maryann Ronneburger, OP
Dominican Sisters of Hope
Our community at St. Paul the Apostle in Jersey City, New Jersey is a very good, unique community with Dominican Sisters from Amityville, Blauvelt and Hope. We appreciate the richness each congregation adds to our living together. However, what we truly appreciate is that we are all members of the larger Dominican family.

Christmas in our community is a special time for us. We always make sure everyone can be home to decorate the tree, share refreshments, pray, and exchange gifts. Usually, Veronica and Terry go and get the tree. Decorations are brought into the community room by everyone. The wide variety of the refreshments is great because each one makes her favorite.

The tree is put up, lights are wrapped around the tree, and the blessing is given. As we eat, share, laugh, and listen to beautiful Christmas carols, we realize how blessed we are. Small gifts are exchanged, and when everything is cleared away, we enjoy time sitting in the glow of the tree lights and in the glow of our care for each other.
