Dominicans in Iraq
‘We have family in Iraq’

Please share the information below with anyone interested in sending a financial contribution to help the Iraqi Dominican Sisters and other displaced Christians in Iraq. There are three ways you can get funds directly into Iraq to start saving lives and reliving suffering right now:

  1. Dominican Sisters International (DSI) has set up a fund, providing transfers through offices in Rome to the two Dominican congregations in Iraq: the Sisters of St. Catherine and Sisters of the Presentation. Click here for the printable transfer-of-funds information; please indicate that it is for “Iraqi Solidarity.”

  2. We have secured a means for transferring funds directly to the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine in Erbil. If you wish to add your contribution to those funds, please send a check made payable to “Adrian Dominican Sisters – Iraq” (Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E Siena Heights Drive, Adrian MI 49221)
or donate online, clicking “Other” and designating “Iraq” on the donation page on the Adrian Dominicans web site.

  3. Donate to relief efforts through Catholic Relief Services

You may also help by contacting your elected leaders in Congress and urging them to make sure that every action taken by the United States regarding Iraq considers these basic principles of human rights:

  • Includes the protection of human rights and religious freedom in Iraq
  • Provides maximum humanitarian assistance to Christians, Muslims, and other minorities displaced by the Islamic State and those who have remained displaced since the war
  • Rejects more U. S. military intervention and convenes a conference to establish a comprehensive arms embargo to Iraq and the region
  • Brings the threat posed by the Islamic State to the UN Security Council and seek a united global response that identifies the group as an international terrorist threat to peace and security
  • Considers actions that need to be taken to speed the resettlement of Iraq’s persecuted minorities in the U.S. and provides adequate funding to meet the needs of those refugees upon their arrival.

Please continue to pray for all the people of Iraq.
