In August, six young adults came to New York to receive a week of training in preparation for their new mission. They were given a refresher course on Dominican spirituality, St. Dominic and the mission of the order, as well as some hands-on experience in public speaking and group dynamics. These young people spent hours planning the program they would eventually be presenting to their audiences. Their target audience was of course young adults, but they prepared the presentation to touch a wide variety of people and ages.

Their first presentations were scheduled in the Northeast. To optimize finances, it was decided that they would have two presentations during their stay. The first was sponsored by Dominican College of Blauvelt on Oct. 30, the second was the following day and sponsored by Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York.

Though the team was visibly nervous (it was their first time presenting this program to a live audience), the first presentation went well. After gathering the evaluations from their audience, the team went to work making adjustments before presenting at Molloy College the next afternoon. Their work proved fruitful; as the program was well received by all who attended.

Where the team will travel in the spring has yet to be decided, though we have had some requests. If you are interested in having them come to your area, please contact Gina Fleming, OP, at domsis@aol.com.
