Loretto sister helped shape today's Catholic church

Luke Tobin loved the image of the door. In Jesus' declaration: "I
am the door," Tobin found both mystery and invitation. After a
lifetime of leadership in religious life and of activism on behalf of
women, the poor and those afflicted by war and violence, the door of
Tobin's own earthly life closed Aug. 24 in her room in the Loretto Motherhouse
